COMMISSIONS

There are two type of commissions.

Commercial Commissions are where the client is buying the various rights to use the image for reproduction on their product. In this case the original art created is not included unless specifically negotiated.

The price for commercial commissions are based on the rights needed, the timeline required and the complexity of the piece itself.

Private Commissions or Art Sales are when a client is interested in owning the original art itself. In this case only the original art is sold and no rights to the image are included.

The process of a Private Commission usually goes as follows. Once we agree on the subject, size, price, and schedule, the first payment is due. This amount varies, but, is usually around 30% of the total cost. After that, I will do several sketches, usually in black and white and almost always done digitally, for approval. Sometimes, but not always, there is a color sketch phase where the chosen sketch is colored digitally, and again, shown for approval. Once all that is done the work on the final oil painting is started. Once the piece is finished, I will send the image via email as a .JPEG file for final approval. Once it is approved, the final payment is due. Once that is received, I ship the final painting to its forever home.

Here is a basic price guide for Private Commissions.  Of course, these are base prices and will be adjusted according to the complexity and composition of the piece.

16x20 inches  $2800.00+shipping

18x24 inches   $3600.00+shipping
